City of Piedmont Ballot Measure
Ballot Question:

Shall the measure, providing funding for City of Piedmont’s essential city services, such as police, fire, and emergency medical response; and maintenance of aging City buildings, parks, stormwater drains, roads and sidewalks, by increasing the real estate transfer tax from 1.3% to 1.75% to be more in line with neighboring cities and to generate approximately $1,500,000 annually in general tax revenue until ended by voters, be adopted?

At the City Council of July 20, 2026, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 58-2026 placing Ordinance No. 792 N.S. on the ballot for the General Municipal Election to be held on November 3, 2026.
At the same meeting, the City Council set a deadline of Monday, August 3, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. for the submission of direct arguments for and against the measure to be submitted to the City Clerk’s Office. Direct arguments are limited to 300 words and are confidential until the deadline.
The Council also set a deadline of Thursday, August 13, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. for the submission of rebuttal arguments to the City Clerk’s Office. Rebuttal arguments are limited to 250 words and are confidential until the deadline.
Residents or groups interested in submitting arguments are encouraged to contact the City Clerk’s Office at (510) 420-3040 for more information.
Each proponent/author of an argument must submit a signed Argument/Rebuttal submission form with the argument. Arguments must be submitted in final form in both a wet-signed hard copy and an electronic format ( i.e. word doc).

- You can register online.
- You need to be 18 years or older on election day, but you can pre-register if you are 16 or 17 years old.
- If you’ve moved or changed your name since the last election, you need to re-register.
